News from the Archives. 30 St. Mary Axe Suited to the iconic London headquarters of Swiss Re, at 30 St. Mary Axe, LEGIC® technology and Third Millennium readers were fitted as part of the overall design philosophy of the office décor. Founded in Zurich in 1863, Swiss Re conducts business from more than 70 offices in over 30 countries in providing risk transfer, risk financing and asset management to a global client base. The Swiss Re Group is one of the leading, and financially strongest, reinsurers in the market. Designed by Foster & Partners, the distinctive architecture of the 40 storey structure adds to the cluster of buildings at the heart of London’s financial centre. The system integrators on the project, Universal Security Systems, installed 200 card readers supplied by Third Millennium,to provide access control using LEGIC®13.56MHz RFID contactless smart card technology. As more tenants took residence in the building, they too were issued with smart ID cards, giving carefully controlled access and egress to individually designated doors, and area of the tower. The same card readers and access technology is to be given to future residents. The LEGIC® contactless technology has been designed to provide a multi-functional and encrypted data transmission, delivering the highest level of security. About Third Millennium.
